Here’s your chance to honor that New Year’s resolution to start (or re-start) that exciting writing project—or begin something new. Make a date to head to the scenic Oakwood Retreat Center (near Muncie) for a writers’ retreat, and spend the weekend getting inspired, writing, sharing your work, and making new friends.
The workshop will be relaxed, focused primarily on a quiet setting to get work done, punctuated with simple gatherings for those who want some support or need a break from the writing. The session will be facilitated by Alicia Rasley and Andy Black, both on the IWC faculty.
The retreat begins at 7 PM on Friday night with a group gathering to identify writing goals for the weekend. Plenty of downtime will be available to write, with (optional) workshops on voice and brainstorming for ideas, a group critique session, and an open mic session to read (and hear) new work. The event will be interdisciplinary, so you will meet and hang with playwrights, poets, fiction writers, novelists, memoir writers and more. The experience ends at noon on Sunday.
Directions will be provided upon registration.
Rainbow Farm is the setting for Oakwood Retreat Center, located in East Central Indiana just east of Muncie. Meadows, trails, woodlands, and organically farmed fields surround the dwellings and meeting space. Gardens invite guests to wander or rest in the midst of the beauty of every season. Indoor spaces reflect the outer majesty creating an atmosphere for contemplation, reflection, and discovery.
