03/13-04/04 Fiction Writers Workshop

Location: IWC Classroom at the Indianapolis Opera Center
Cost: $200 Nonmembers, $128 Writer/Reader Members, $112 Senior, Teacher, Student, Military/Veteran, Librarian Members

Writers at different process stages benefit from the feedback of others, and this class will use the workshop format to discuss drafts-in-progress. The different sessions will provide a blend of critique, instruction/craft discussion, and generative writing exercises, ideal for those who want the accountability of deadlines and a group. We’ll also discuss how to get the most out of feedback, building toward strong revisions. Fiction writers of any level are welcome.

Course Instructor: Sarah Layden

Sarah Layden is the author of Imagine Your Life Like This, stories; Trip Through Your Wires, a noveland The Story I Tell Myself About Myself, winner of the Sonder Press Chapbook Competition. She is co-author with Bryan Furuness of The Invisible Art of Literary Editing. Her short fiction appears in Boston Review, Booth, Blackbird, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Best Microfiction 2020, and elsewhere, with recent nonfiction in The Washington PostPoets & WritersSalonThe Millions, and River Teeth. She is an Associate Professor of English at Indiana University Indianapolis, where she serves as faculty advisor to genesis, the campus literary and art magazine. http://sarahlayden.com/
